In Connecticut more than 400,000 people are at risk of hunger every year. These people are children, working parents, seniors, people with disabilities, and maybe even your neighbors. As parents and individuals who care deeply about the community it is our belief no one in America should ever go hungry. We realize to defeat hunger across the country we must first defeat it within our own state.
In 2008, The Connecticut Renaissance Faire ran its first can drive, offering guests discounted admission to the show when they donated a canned good. The food drive was a success enabling us to collect and donate over a thousand pounds of food.
With a successful food drive under our belt, we reached out to the Connecticut Food Bank to help further get the word out about the Crusade and determine where those donations would do the most good in the state. Thanks to our guests and these two caring organizations, we have been able to collect and donate over 10,000 pounds of food to various charities over the past several years.
We’ve only just begun…
JOIN THE CRUSADE
We need your sword and shield to help defend those in need. Will you join us? You can help the Crusade by asking people to bring a Big-Y brand canned good or non-perishable to the Faire as a donation.
You can further assist the Crusade by making a cash donation to the Connecticut Food Bank. Ninety-two cents of every dollar you donate goes to directly to program services and every dollar can provide nearly four meals to someone in need. [Visit the CT Food Bank donations page] to make a donation. Any amount helps.
