Dear Educator,
On May 6, The Connecticut Renaissance Faire will host its annual School Day program immersing students in a day so fun they’ll forget they’re learning. This special day has been set aside solely for educators and their students to experience the magic of an enchanted age lost to time.
At the Faire your students will become interactive participants in an enchanted story that will inspire them to learn more about the past. Here they can touch, smell, listen, and most importantly, get up and do! Let us immerse your students in a subtle learning experience that will leave them begging you to discover more.
Here are just a few great reasons to attend:
- ARMOR: See why Plate Armor ruled the battlefield for more than 100 years as knights face off on the field of honor.
- IMAGINE: Although not required, you may choose to come dressed in Renaissance attire to enhance your experience. Be the knight, princess, prince, or other characters of your choosing
- DANCE: Learn traditional dances or just watch them happen throughout the day.
- ENJOY: Laugh and shout at a variety of shows and acts throughout the day.
- INTERACT: Chat with hundreds of costumed characters from royalty to peasant.
- JOUST: Cheer for your favorite knight as they joust for your entertainment.
- LIVE: Learn about life in the Renaissance first hand.
- MUSIC: Hear traditional songs, music, and instruments from the Middle Ages.
- SHOP: Explore a Medieval Marketplace filled with thousands of unique gift treasures.
Don’t miss this limited time opportunity to take your students back to a simpler time.

What payment methods do you accept for advance registration?
We accept online payments using either Paypal or credit cards. We also accept checks, but all checks must be received no later than April 1, 2010 along with your registration form in order to receive the advance registration discount and benefits.
How does registration and check in work?
When your registration is received we compile an admission packet which includes all the Entry Bracelets and blank name tags for everyone registered on your order. Upon arrival at the Faire a representative from your school should come to the front gate to acquire your admission packet. The bracelets and blank name tags from the admission packet should be distributed to your students and chaperones that will then come to the front gate to be admitted.
What can we do if we don’t have name tags or lose the ones we have?
All Students and Chaperones are required to have a visible name tag that shows at least their first name, last initial, and school. This helps the Faire locate the right people promptly in the event of an emergency. Students and Chaperones without a nametag can purchase a new/replacement one at the front Box Office for a dollar.
How do pre-registered students obtain their free CTRF Youth pass?
These tickets will be in your admission packet, given to the educator when h/she arrives. We suggest you distribute the passes at the conclusion of your visit or upon returning to the school.
What if we arrive with more students that we originally signed up for?
Great!! The more the merrier! Just let the School Day contact person know and you may pay cash or write a check to cover the cost of the additional students. A receipt will be mailed to you upon request.
What if we arrive with fewer students that we originally signed up for?
Although we certainly hope that everyone can come to enjoy the faire, unfortunately, we are unable to issue any refunds.
What are the hours for school day?
To better accommodate you we host an abbreviated Faire day (9am to 2pm) that allows most students to be back in time to catch the bus home.
What is the required Chaperone to Student ratio?
Your group should have a minimum of one Chaperone per 10 Students.
If we leave the Faire can we come back in?
Yes, however note: Students without a Chaperone will not be allowed on site. The same holds true for Chaperones without Students. When you return to the Faire show your bracelet to the gate crew and they'll let you in. You can't re-enter the faire after we close at 2PM.
Is there suitable parking for a bus?
Yes. There is sufficient parking for hundreds of buses and cars. Thanks to our sponsors, parking is free!
How much should we expect to spend during our visit?
What you spend in a day is entirely up to you. Food and drink prices start around $2 with a wide variety of options to choose from. There is an ATM machine conveniently located on site.
Are we allowed to bring outside food and drink?
Yes. Outside food and drink is permitted and bag lunches are suggested for those who wish to avoid potentially long lines during the lunch rush or have diet restrictions. There is a wide variety of food and drink available to accommodate various diets, but we are unable to accommodate every possibility so please plan accordingly.
