Audition for the Crown Players
The Crown Players are a regional theatre troupe based out of Connecticut that perform at The Connecticut Renaissance Faire and Robin Hood’s Medieval Faire. Our performers come from around New England with one thing in common: They share a passion for creativity and the performing arts. Together, we create a community theatre that enchants thousands of guests each year.
Our performers receive professional theatrical training in various stage arts. Your role and need determine the type of training you receive. Here are some of those disciplines that will strengthen your acting resume:
- Period Dialects and Language
- Improvisation
- Audience Interaction
- Stage Combat
- Vocal Production
About Our Performances
The Crown Players are like a Shakespeare in the Park event with performances on and off stage. On stage, we perform scripted scenarios with a seated audience. When we step off stage, we engage our audience in the streets as our characters. We have one-on-one experiences with festival patrons breathing life into the village with highly-memorable techniques learned in our training.
It is more than actors alone that make up our group as we transcend traditional theatre with a brilliant combination of creative talent. Our talent can include singers, musicians, belly dancers, jugglers, stilt walkers, and much more.
It doesn’t matter if you’ve acted for years or you’ve never done anything like this before. If you like performing, you’re going to love doing it at the Faire. Make history with us, and along the way, you’ll learn invaluable acting skills in a community of like minds.
Role Information
Queen Elizabeth is visiting our shire and preparations have been made for a grand festival. We are looking for not only Her Majesty’s Court (courtiers, ladies, Queen’s guards, knights, etc.), but the townsfolk (the butcher, the baker, the candlestick maker, etc.) and other visitors to celebrate the day.
