Wizard Weekend

Magic is in the air at the Connecticut Renaissance Faire. With plenty of enchanted and mystical goods to shop for, you’re bound to find the item of your choice unless, of course, the item chooses you instead.
Saturday
Wizard House Meetup & Sorting: Join us at the Pirate Cove just before 11:00 am to be sorted into your houses and begin participating in our Harry Potter Trivia Contest.
The Harry Potter House Cup Trivia Contest: So you think you’re the cleverest in the land? Join us at the Pirate Cove at the top of every hour and step up to participate in the official trivia house cup!
A member of the Ministry of Magic will be at the Pirate Cove once per hour on the hour. Find them and ask for a trivia question. There are four categories you can choose from:
- BEGINNER (worth 1 point)
- OWLS (worth 2 points)
- NEWTS (worth 3 points)
- AUROR (worth 5 points)
If you answer your question correctly, you get a chance to answer a BONUS QUESTION on various witches and wizards from other stories, worth 10 points for your house! Keep your points with you until the costume contest, after which we will count them. We will announce the winning house at Final Revels.
Wizard Costume Contest: Please join us for our Wizard Costume Contest, where we welcome all wizards, both young and old, to show the audience how a wizard should dress for the occasion.

Harry Potter Cosplay Costume Contest: Whether you’re from Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, or Slytherin, all houses of Hogwarts are welcome to compete in this cosplay costume contest.
Meet the Author: Each day of our show, we schedule a new up-and-coming fantasy author. Buy a book, get it signed, join their fan club, and grab a selfie to show you were there. See who the author is for a given day in the Guests Merchants section of our Shops page.
Contest Info: All contests occur on the Sovereign Stage at 4:00 pm. Unless otherwise mentioned, the Faire includes these events with your same-day admission. If you are planning to enter a contest, please arrive 10-15 minutes before starting. At the discretion of the contest host, some events may choose to limit the number of participants in a particular contest due to time restrictions.
